Cellulite reduction using Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
March 27th, 2008 | by admin |The process known as metabolism burns the excess fat in our body. Metabolism takes place when the body is in need of energy and this energy is in turn produced from the nutrients taken by us in the form of food. The body conserves some of these nutrient materials, mainly in the form of glycogen. If the nutrients are in excess then the body stores them in the form of fats. Now here is where cellulite problems start.
If the person does not do adequate exercises or activities to use all the excess nutrients stored then the body starts gaining weight and becomes bulky. Thus the need for cellulite reduction arises.
The EMS or Electrical Muscle Stimulating is a process by which the muscles of the body are stimulated and they in turn simulate activity or work due to the influence of an electrical impulse. There are two methods to stimulate the muscles:
- one is to directly stimulate the muscle by impulses;
- The other one simulates the movement of the muscles by a massaging technique.
The direct stimulation sends signals that in turn creates impulses at the muscle junctions and starts contraction and relaxation thus simulating the normal work and reducing the cellulite. The normal work happens by the signals from the nerves, which comes from the brain.
The massaging technique is to roll the instrument over the skin thus making the skin to contract and relax and causing a similar reaction in the sub-dermal muscle layers and thereby causing the metabolism and increased blood flow. Both methods lead to a reduction of cellulite.
Electrical muscle stimulations treatments are also useful to increase the blood flow, to remove the muscle spasms, to disrupt the blood clots and also reduce the cellulite.
